2011AlaskaBearsbrook fallsThe Brooks River near Bristol Bay Alaska has a very heavy salmon runso every summer the bears congregate at the falls to feast on fresh salmon.

  • A pair of twins patiently awaiting mom to bring them some fish!
  • Got One! Each Salmon is about 5000 calories, and each bear that is a good fisherman can catch 10 or more a day. 50,000 calories to carry them through the winter.
  • They fight over fish, but this fight was over a prime spot for fishing. Interestingly, the little guy started the fight and won it.
  • Caught another one!
  • They eat 'em where they catch 'em so that a bigger bear does not steal the catch.
  • Same fight!
  • The twins are still waiting.
  • This bear caught a fish earlier and lost it in a fight. Notice the fresh wounds above his eye.
  • This time he'll eat it right in the river to avoid loosing it again.
